Space-A Foundation for Peace & Care organized a roundtable meeting ensuring basic needs for intersex people on 29 October 2022 at NGO Forum, Lalmatia, Dhaka. The aeration program was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Intersex people from various areas of Dhaka city associated the situation with those who make a potential influence in this hall chamber by sharing their experience as well as like-minded dispensation representatives and individuals. On the other hand, the stakeholders from various organizations discuss the recent scenario of intersex people in our country context. Space- (A Foundation for peace & Care) organized this consultation meeting has gone intersex people and various organizations as a result that they in addition can resign themselves to their vulnerability. Intersex people are called cursed children broadly in Bangladesh’s social context. There is a lot of superstition more or less the country near them. So, socially they turn to a lot of bully and torture. Most of cases people are getting hence keen just very just on the genital organs that they often sore to see the genital organ of the child. In this event, children do traumatize, and their distress signal people. So, parents feel to conceal their identity and mostly be credited following. When they put in their adolescent age their body concern comes out as their perspective.
On 06 November 2021, with the support of DIAKONIA Bangladesh, Space- A foundation for Peace and Care organized an orientation course on gender-responsive journalism for Journalists and media activists. There were 19 participants from different newspapers, online portals, and NGOs. Four expert Resource Persons conducted four different sessions. The session was continued from 10:00 – 18:00. Sanaiyya Faheem Ansari, Sahanaj Munni, Jobaida Nasreen Kona, and Tasnuva Shishir on Gender-sensitive language, gender stereotypes, the concept of third gender, and sexuality.
SPACE foundation organized a training workshop in gloss on 16th December and 17 December 2022. This program was supported by Bonhishikha and WGG. A total of 15 people were invited as participants. The participants were mostly from the SOGIESC/Queer Community and as well as from Cisgender Women and Men. Their religions are Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Unitarian Universalism, and even skepticism. The age group was 18-38 and they are from diverse backgrounds. All of them are members of various CBOs. Most of them identified as feminists.
It was enormously inclusive and people from diverse backgrounds allied to the workshop. Mosfec Ara Shimul was the facilitator. In this workshop, Sex-Gender-Sexuality, Patriarchy, Gender Transformative Leadership, SGBV, Intersectionality, etc. was discussed. The influence was a training workshop, and it was about Gender Transformative Leadership. Considering the world is facing significant challenges, leaders who undertake justice and equity for all people are snappish. To admission SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) we obsession to focus on our young people generation because 45-50% population of Bangladesh are youth years and teenage adults.
Space Foundation organized training in this area Gender and SRHR for young on 25 to 26 November at ALRD, Lalmatia, Dhaka. A total of 12 participants participated in 2 days of training whose connection was 18 to 30 years of age. Moshfec Ara, Executive Director, Space- A foundation for peace and care facilitated this training. Various topics were discussed in this training. Gender, sex, SRHR, Mental health, menopause, menstruation, Transgender, intersex, patriarchy, etc.
From this proficiency-developed training, participants learned a lot more or less about gender joined and mental health-associated issues which are totally important for their personal and professional simulation.
Gender School to Change Harmful Social Norms and Values:
Investing regarding gender education for adolescents and children is energy varying program. It provides adolescents taking into account opportunities to involve their futures and become the adult they were hurting to be and the ripple effects it can have for entire communities and countries in the goal of fact transforming our world. But for many returning to education adding together-pandemic will not be a substitute. Within the context of the emotional and social press, recognizing that the provision of hint alone is not plenty. Young people’s obsessions to be unmodified are the opportunity to get valuable learning skills and developed determined attitudes and values. CSE is entering that recognizes and promotes human rights, knowledge skills vital for health problem prevention, and gender equality.
Evidence has shown that comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is scientifically accurate, culturally and age-take possession of gender education and skill-based and can be more happening gone maintenance for youngster people considering the knowledge, skills, and efficiency to make informed decisions approximately their sexuality and lifestyle.
When teenagers people are equipped with accurate and relevant mention, once they have developed skills in decision-making, arbitration, communication, and necessary thinking, and have the right of entry to counseling and SRHR facilities that are non-judgmental and affordable. They are improved skills to their personalities.
As the first program of gender school for adolescents in Bangladesh, Space foundation has started gender online training and planned for their achieving their goals. We have done both online and in-person courses on gender, human rights, SRHR mental health & and climate change for kids and adolescents. The course duration is 3 months long and it includes gender, SRHR, Comprehensive sexuality education, gender diversity, human rights, mental health, and climate change.
